Graupner 'Weihe 50' ~ Laser-cut rib set

These ribs are for the original 1/5.5 scale 3,2 metre (126”) 1981 Graupner Weihe 50 with glass fibre fuselage (NOT the foam fuselage version ) This is a large set of rib and tail parts and building instructions (in German) are available (email) by request.

The following 110 laser parts are included:

  • 60 wing ribs cut in 1.5mm Blasa (Ribs are cut to suit the original metric spars)       

  • Ribs are also cut with servo cable holes and small 'vents' to alleviate the 'ballooning' issue when film covering.

  • 20 tailplane/

    Vertical Stab cut in 1.5mm balsa

  • 18 tailplane rib supports to aid building cut in 1.5mm balsa

  • 6 wing ribs & 6 tail/fin ribs cut in aircraft ply

  • No plan included. This is not a complete kit

History: Focke-Wulf Weihe was designed by famous sailplane designer Hans Jacobs, and was the most successful mass-produced high-performance sailplane in the World before the Ka 6.

Hans Jacobs designed the prototype Weihe in 1938, after his Reiher of 1937 and before the Olympia Meise of 1939. As Hans Jacobs had been taught sailplane design by Alexander Lippisch, designer of many gliders during the 1920s and the Fafnjr of 1930 and Fafnir 2 “Sao Paulo” of 1934, one can state that the Weihe was another of a long line of sailplanes which were influenced by the Fafnir. The clean, simple beauty of the Weihe would make it a worthy exhibit in an exhibition of Greek art.
