Airtronics ‘Olympic II' ~ Laser-cut Parts Set

These (large set of :-) parts are for the famous 1970's Airtronics Olympic II (Olly II) 100” span all-wood glider by Lee Renaud.

The Olympic ll sailplane was designed for quick & easy building and quickly established itself as one of the USA most popular R/C sailplanes. Although designed as a trainer, the long list of contest wins proves that the design has been very competitive in Standard Class contests. Many sailplane fliers learned to fly with an Olympic, then went on to become contest threats and Olly ll flies and handles even better than the original Olympic version. The box contains the following 59 laser-cut parts

  • 46 Wing ribs cut in hand-selected 2.4 balsa

  • 3 fuselage formers cut in 3.0mm lite ply

  • 4 assorted wing parts cut in 1.5mm aircraft ply

  • 2 wing ribs cut in 1.5mm aircraft ply

  • 4 wing braces cut in 1.5mm aircraft ply

  • Wing joint ribs are laminated from 2 x 2.4mm ribs rather than the original 3/16”.

  • Ribs are cut with servo cable holes and elsewhere with small 'vent' holes to alleviate the 'ballooning' issue when film covering.

  • The servo holes allow fitting 2 x 9g servos as spoilers/airbrakes.

  • Other modifications include cut ribs to suit airbrake fitting and aligned holes for wing joining.

  • No building plan is included - this is not a full kit.
